Thank you for this. I discovered Substack a few weeks ago because I wanted to continue reading Dr. Paul Krugman’s columns after he retired from the NYT. I now find myself spending more and more time on this app! I am awed at the writers who contribute articles, and of the numerous people who post comments. I’ve even been posting comments myself, and am amazed and humbled that people are actually following me!

I’m not sure I completely understand Substack yet though. I have no desire to make money or write articles myself (I’m 84 and have slowed down a lot lately!) and would love to subscribe to more contributors but unfortunately can’t afford to do so. So I’ll just continue to read whatever articles are available to me and make comments where I can.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. May we drink in this essay and allow hope to bubble once again. It helps, I am exhausted just saying WTF every day...why can't anyone stop this mess.

We will and it takes the Genuis of Substack and time. Gratitude to you all.

Totally awesome app and grateful for Substack in a world of pushback. Yes we can think anew and solve dilemmas from hearing perspectives offered here to contemplate.

I so want to believe in your hopeful vision, and I suppose believing in it is a first step toward making it come true.
